Club Rules


Heworth Golf Club welcome all members, visitors and guests and hope you all have an enjoyable visit to our club.  We do ask you to adhere to our club rules which intend to uphold the traditions of Golf and of Heworth Golf Club without making your visit less enjoyable in any way.  Thanks for your co-operation.

Dress Rules

Heworth Golf Club operates a common sense approach to dress rules both on the course and in the clubhouse and ask that all members, guests and visitors dress in a smart and comfortable manner whilst adhering to our dress rules below. 

On the Golf Course

The following items of clothing are not allowed to be worn on the golf course or practice areas:

Shorts must be tailored and worn with suitable sports socks.

Golf shoes must be worn when playing golf, SOFT Spikes only

In the Clubhouse

The following items of clothing are not allowed to be worn in the clubhouse with the exception of the locker rooms:

General Club Rules

Clubhouse

Mobile phones can be used in and around the clubhouse but consideration must be given to others when using a mobile phone.

Members are to maintain and leave the facilities provided in a manner in which they expect to find them.

Offensive and abusive language of any description will not be tolerated.

With the exception of Guide Dogs, no dogs are allowed in the clubhouse or on the course.

The use of any golf equipment for putting, chipping or any other golfing activity is not allowed in locker rooms.

The wash facilities are not be used for cleaning golf equipment.

Golf trolleys must not pulled through the locker room nor should they be assembled or dissembled in the locker room.

Any complaint against any member of the staff must be directed to an Officer of the club.

Golfing

Course

All golfers must be aware of the Rules of Golf, Golf Course Etiquette and the Local Rules of Heworth Golf Club before playing on the course.

Mobile phones should be switched off or silent when on the golf course and should only be used if essential and with consideration to others.  

Pitch marks and divots must be repaired.

No practising is allowed on the course.

Play should be with one ball only other than where the Rules of Golf permit.

Play should be from the appropriate tees.

During team matches the team has priority on the course.

Any complaint against any member of the staff must be directed to an Officer of the club.

Practice Areas

On the practice area between hole 9 and hole 10 balls must be hit from east to west, towards the 12th fairway.  No balls to be purposely hit out of practice area.

On the practice area between hole 14 and hole 18 balls may only be hit from north to south, away from the practice putting green.  No balls to be purposely hit out of practice area.

No chipping or pitching onto the practice putting green.

When using any practice area, including the putting green and the practice nets, consideration must be given to those golfers playing the course.

Course Boundries

The boundaries of the Golf Club must be respected and no member, visitor or caddie is to climb any boudry fence for any reason.
