Lady Captains Day July 1st 2018

A very successful day with continued sunshine and an abundance of  excellent scores.  The CSS was reduced to 72 with several ladies reducing their handicaps.   The eventual winner of the  Captains trophy was Mrs Heatherr Peters  with a spectacular 64  having reduced her handicap to 27 from 32 in  the previous weeks medal and making a further reduction

coupled with an ESR in this competition to 21.3. Well done Heather. All that hard work is paying off

There were 22 ladies competing in the competition and Susan had invited several ex members along with members who were not competing for a varietyof reasons. A putting conmpetition was held for thos ladies using vintage hickory shafted putters supplied bySusan's Dad, Ivan. This was won by Mrs Betty Lyons.

The very attractive prize table displayed  prizes for   best back nine, best front nine,  age over 75s ,first to third nett and best gross.

The Ladies club championship was held  on Saturday and Sunday  7th and 8th July 2018.

We had 7 entries for the championship which was won by a junior Faye Wheatley with a gross 78 + 75 (153). Faye's home club is Gosforth ladies. I understand these scores reduced her exact handicap resulting in her playing handicap reducing  from 7 to 6. Second was another   junior Leah Davison-Pullan, a Heworth home player with gross 170 which together with  an ESR  reduced her exact handicap to 13.9 playing off 14.  Third was Mrs Debbie Gilbertson  a home player with a gross 171

so retaining her playing  handicap at 9.  Well done to all who supported the championship.

A MacMillan spoons  competition  was held for   other lady members who did not play in the championship and this was won by Mrs Pat Dunn with  36 points.
