"Heworth golfers, are members of one of the most improved and progressive set-ups in the region and one that is destined to get better and better in the years ahead, while still retaining everything that has made this club special in the past".

Alan Hedley – Correspondent, Newcastle Journal and Golf North East.

Our sponsors for the 2013 season Many Thanks !

Welcome to Heworth Golf Club

Captains Colin and Lynne wish to extend their thanks and appreciation to everyone who participated in the charity walk on Easter Sunday for the woman’s cancer detection society at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead.

On a cold bright day the walkers completed the course after only one “refreshments” stop, on arrival at the Millenium bridge bunches of pink balloons were released in the air and then more “refreshments” were taken at various pubs along the quayside. Collection tins were rattled furiously as were brains during the quiz. The day was a huge success and all who took part should be proud of the achievement as should all who helped raise funds by sponsorship.

Thanks and well done to all.

The Keith Shivers Bowl was held once again at the Club on Sunday 5 May 2013. The winner was John Kennedy from Consett Golf Club with a combined score of  143 (74 + 69). The two rounds were  played in difficult conditions. A small gallery of photographs from the day will be added at a later date.

Club seniors Billy Watson and Larry Walden are pictured above after  winning the Walters Trophies on Saturday 20 April 2013. This is the first trophy won by Billy and Larry who have  a combined membership of almost 80 years.

An Introduction to Our Club

"Heworth Golf Club really is an absolute gem"

In 2012 the club celebrated it's Centenary year and we are proud that we have continued to grow in stature throughout our 100 year history.

We continue to adapt to change and to the demands of modern times while maintaining the traditions of golf and the traditions of Heworth Golf Club.

Our course has matured into one of the most respected courses in the area and is always immaculately presented and boasts the best greens in the North East of England.

In 2009 the club hosted the Northern Counties match between the Durham County Golf Union and the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs. In 2011 we hosted the Durham County Golf Union County Championship and in our Centenary Year we hosted the English Golf Union Seniors County Finals. For this we are honoured and immensely proud.

We have always offered a friendly welcome to all who visit our club (opens Windows Media Player in a new window) and we would be delighted to welcome you as our guest.
