Heworth Ladies Anderson League Success 2023!

Once again, Heworth Ladies enjoy success at the top, winning the Durham County Ladies Golf Association Anderson League Division 5, seeing off some top teams and some formidable opponents along the way.

Contrary to popular belief, golf is not merely a stroll…but a game of strategy and skill, requiring players to navigate obstacles and exercise problem solving skills. Our ladies applied these skills to perfection with each swing carried out with precision and unwavering determination.

We walked the courses, swung our clubs, and navigated those hazards in the rain, sun, rain, wind and more rain to culminate in a well deserved victory.

We have an amazing group of ladies at Heworth, and we’re lucky to have a quality squad of players to select from. The camaraderie we forge as a club is transported to those fairways, providing support and encouragement along the way.

Our 2023 success was a result of the combined efforts of Janet Ross, Olivia Douglas, Lynne Errington, Debbie Gilbertson, Joanne McGuire, Anne Ingle, Liz McKenzie, Pat McMeekin, Val Chambers and Emma Watkins, ably supported by our team captain Judy Robson and Lady Captain Kerry Walker. Kerry went above and beyond in her role as Lady Captain providing drinks, snacks and even the occasional ice cream on the very rare hot days (which went down a treat!). Whilst Judy rallied her troops with some motivational calls of ‘do me proud girls!’. Success was never in doubt!
