PLEASE NOTE
Club competitions are available on HowDidiDo and we advise members to register an account on their website to receive Results and Handicap Updates at the earliest opportunity. You can also track your progress as well as use many other features.
Members are also encouraged to create an account with England Golf which will be the only official source of your current WHS handicap. You will need your unique CDH Number which is available from the club administrator. We also recommend downloading the 'My EG' app from your app store to use on your mobile device. Search 'MyEG
Competition Handicaps
The new term for a player’s handicap is their Handicap Index. You will need to know your current Handicap Index when playing in a club competition. Your Handicap Index can be found on the England Golf Website https://members.whsplatform.englandgolf.org/, the MYEG app (see above) or Howdidido.
The next step is to determine your Course Handicap by consulting the table displayed near to the first tee.
Finally, you need to determine your Playing Handicap in the competition, i.e. the number of shots you are allowed, which is 95% of your Course Handicap in a Singles competition and 85% of your Course Handicap in fourball competitions.
If this seems confusing, you do not need to enter your Handicap on your scorecard, the V1 System we use to administer competitions will perform all the calculations for you.
Finally: Please ensure that you have sufficient funds on your card to enter the competitions and any required sweeps.

HISTORY OF THE SENIOR SECTION
In the early 1980s the then President of Heworth Golf Club, Mr Danny Cassidy, organised 2 golf sweeps each week, on Tuesday and Thursday, amongst some of the older members of the club who turned up to play a few holes. The Course Ranger at the time, George McGovern, was a former speedway rider and he donated a cup which he had won, to be played for among the Seniors on an annual basis. This was to be the forerunner of a group who grew from 20 keen players to the present day membership of around 130.
The Senior Section now compete for 10 trophies each year as well as playing regular home and away team fixtures with 11 neighbouring Senior Sections. They organise their own social events and support local charities.
